Itinerary Highlights

What to Bring

  • Difficulty: Moderate. No previous glacier hiking experience is required, but you must be able to walk on uneven mountain terrain. The full glacier experience takes about 3.5 to 4 hours (including preparation) and involves a total hiking distance of around 6 km (3.7 miles) with an elevation gain of approximately 230 meters (750 feet).
  • Health & Safety: This tour is not recommended for individuals with heart conditions. The tour is not wheelchair or stroller accessible.
  • Nature Dictates: The Sólheimajökull environment is constantly changing, so exact routes and distances on the ice may vary. The overall itinerary may also be adjusted due to weather, road, or glacier conditions to ensure your safety.
