About the Experience
Experience the thrill of a high-speed whale watching adventure on a custom-made RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) from Húsavík, the Whale Capital of Iceland. Because these boats are incredibly fast and agile, they can cover a massive area of Skjálfandi Bay in just 2 hours, getting you to the whales quicker and closer to the water level than traditional vessels.
With a maximum of only 12 passengers per boat, you are guaranteed an intimate, small-group experience with an expert guide and captain. There is no competition for the best view—every seat is a front-row seat! Before heading out, you will be equipped with a warm flotation suit and a life jacket to keep you safe and comfortable as you speed across the waves.
Itinerary Highlights
- Skjálfandi Bay: Explore this stunning North Iceland bay, famous for its rich ecosystem and frequent whale sightings.
- Marine Life: Look out for a variety of species, including Humpback whales, Minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, and harbor porpoises.
- Puffins (Seasonal): From April 15th to August 15th, the tour includes a stop by Puffin Island to see thousands of these colorful birds nesting. Outside of these dates, the tour focuses exclusively on finding big whales.

What to Bring
- Clothing: Even with the provided flotation suit, it gets very cold at sea. Wear warm layers underneath.
- Accessories: A warm hat and gloves are highly recommended (passengers must bring their own).
- Footwear: Sturdy, closed-toe shoes.

- Health Restrictions (Strict): Due to the high speed and bouncy nature of RIB boats, this tour is not suitable for pregnant travelers, individuals with back or neck problems, heart conditions, or anyone with limited mobility.
- Age & Height Limits: The strict minimum age is 8 years old, AND the minimum height is 130 cm (4’3″). All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible.
- Booking Cut-off: Can be booked up to 30 minutes before departure, subject to availability.
